Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir stated that Pakistan refrains from engaging in bloc politics and aims to maintain balanced relations with all friendly nations, including China and the United States, as per the military’s media wing on Wednesday.
During an open conversation with members of prominent US think tanks and media in Washington, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the COAS emphasized Pakistan’s significance both geopolitically and geoeconomically. He expressed Pakistan’s ambition to position itself as a hub of connectivity and a gateway to Central Asia and beyond while avoiding bloc politics and favoring balanced relationships with friendly countries.
Gen Munir shared Pakistan’s perspective on regional security, transnational terrorism, and the crucial importance of preserving strategic stability in South Asia. He underscored Pakistan’s desire to enhance bilateral engagement with the US through a long-term multi-domain partnership.
The army chief conveyed positive and forward-looking interactions during his visit to the US with political and military leadership, expressing optimism for further strengthening the relationship.
Regarding Pakistan’s role in combating transnational terrorism, Gen Munir emphasized the nation’s historical contributions and sacrifices for regional stability and global peace. He affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing the fight against terrorism in alignment with the aspirations of its people.
The COAS also emphasized the imperative resolution of the Kashmir Issue in accordance with the desires of the people of Kashmir and the UN Security Council Resolutions, stating that unilateral actions cannot alter the nature of this internationally recognized dispute.
Additionally, Gen Munir passionately advocated for the prompt alleviation of suffering in Gaza, the provision of humanitarian assistance, and the implementation of a two-state solution for enduring peace in the region.
