SUKKUR: Opposition leader in National Assembly Khursheed Ahmed Shah has said that by taking a giant leap in health sector, Sindh government had appointed more than 5,000 doctors for better health services all over in Sindh.
Addressing corner meetings in Rohri and Pano Akil Tehsil he said newly merit based appointment of 300 doctors would serve in various public sector hospitals in Sukkur district.
Regarding recruitment of doctors, he said that Sindh government always followed merit in the recruitment process and fresh example of merit was obvious in the recruitment of more than 9,000 personnel in Sindh police.
He said that treatment of deadly diseases was beyond the capacity of the poor and even they sell their homes and articles to get treatment.
He asserted Sindh government had established a strong infrastructure in different department particularly in health sector. In this regard various projects of billions of rupees in health sector had been initiated in Sukkur predominantly in Cardiac, Urology and Oncology sectors, he added.
Shah informed Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation with a cost of more than Rs 4 billion was under construction and a cancer hospital would be establish with a cost of more than Rs one billion which would provide contemporary health services to poor in Sukkur.
He said that Pakistan People’s Party had always focused on education of female and in this regard a Women University in Sukkur was nearing to complete and academic activities would start next year.
Customs confiscates smuggled pan and gutka: Customs Sukkur confiscated a cache of smuggled pan parag and gutka (flavoured betel nuts) and other contraband items worth Rs 3.5 million during an action on Custom Check Post, Jacobabad.
Customs officials after intercepting and on checking two vehicles found large quantity of smuggled gutka and pan parag.
On direction of Chief Collector Customs Manzoor Hussain Memon, the team has established check points on main entry and exit points of the city.
