Pakistani actress Mahira Khan stole our hearts with her charm in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees. We still cannot have enough of her in the song Zaalima. The actress is among the top brass of performers in Pakistan. Mahira Khan is reportedly preparing to make her Malayalam film debut after the Bombay High Court removed the prohibition against Pakistani artists. There are rumours circulating that the actress is in negotiations to work in a Mohanlal film. Mahira Khan will reportedly make her Malayalam film debut in the much-awaited film L2: Empuraan. The action thriller, which is helmed by actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran, is rumoured to include the actress as the female lead opposite Mohanlal. The makers haven’t responded to these reports yet.

Director Prithviraj Sukumaran and his wife, journalist-producer Supriya Menon, are good friends with Mahira Khan and her husband Salim Karim. A few months ago, a group photo that was taken of the two couples together with a friend when they were vacationing in the Maldives went viral on social media. Hence, the rumours might not be baseless and it is therefore highly likely that Mahira Khan would debut in Malayalam cinema with the Lucifer sequel, according to internet users.

Mahira Khan had previously revealed in an interview how much she admired Malayalam movies. The actress, who advised her friends and followers to begin viewing Malayalam films, stated that she thought the industry made the best films in terms of story, acting and production value and that she hoped to work in it in the future.

In an interview, when someone asked her if KGF is a Malayalam film, she clearly stated that she was not talking about Tamil or Telugu films but just Malayalam films.

Coming back to L2: Empuraan, touted as both a prequel and sequel to Lucifer, the Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial stars Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Sai Kumar, Baiju Santhosh and Shivaji Guruvayoor. L2 Empuraan is jointly produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions.
