LARKANA/HYDERABAD: The racing bull’s owners held a protest in village Balhreji near Mohenjo Daro along with their bulls while wearing traditional costumes demanded permission for racing of bull pairs, here in Larkana district.

The protesters including Muhammad Khan Channo, Mor Faqeer Machi, Sojhro Keeriyo, Sattar Pirzado, Hakim Ali Pirzado and others said that the bulls racing was an ancient tradition in Sindh but Larkana police has imposed ban over it by ignoring Sindh’s old culture and ancient traditions.

They said that they were suffering badly as they had procured good pairs for purpose costing to millions of rupees besides spent thousands of rupees on them.

“If Pir Pagaro, Asif Zardari and other influential have been allowed horse racing then why they have been barred from playing the traditional game, they regretted.”

They said that there was no ban on racing in other districts including Jacobabad, Kambar-Shahdadkot, Naushehro Feroze, Nawabshah and so forth but it has been restricted due to unknown reasons.

They said that they have contacted influential politicians several time on the matter they have received false and fabricated promises.

They argued that when Sufi Conference can be held in London costing million of dollars then why bull racing can’t be allowed in Sindh.

They said it will also encourage farmers to start bull farming and cultivating their lands other than using costly tools.

They appealed Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Culture Minister Sardar Ali Shah to play their role and save Sindh’s old culture.

493 children subjected to violence since Jan 2017: Speakers at a conference on Wednesday urged authorities concerned to take effective step to prevent violence against children.

A number of civil society activists from 10 districts of Sindh participated in the seminar, which was arranged by the Child Rights Movement (CRM).

Speaking on the occasion, speakers said that around 493 children had been targeted in different cases of violence including sexual, kidnapping and physical abuse since the start of the year. Mirpur Khas Bar Council Secretary Mumtaz Ali Jarwar and others reiterated their support to organisations working to rid country of the social evil.
