Where should I go?

Author: Naba Fatima

Dear Nation! (The radio speaks)

Your land is in danger,

The enemies are ready

To pull the trigger,

But bullet for bullet

And two dead for one,

We will fight

Till we won.

The same story was told

To a ten years old,

Living in my neighbour

Across the border,

Both were we frightened

Both were we urged

That the life of neighbour cum enemy

‘Cost none’.

Oh military! Listen!

On border you fight so fervently

And defend us ardently,

You fuel your jets

And raise yourself high

But do You care?

Near a trash drum

A hungry infant dies.

Oh my guardians!

Can you see that corpse?

A breathless, senseless, frozen corpse

Buried within my heart.

Can you read that epitaph?

Inscribed so deep and dark

‘Here lies an artist

Who was abstained from singing

But for you, he crammed so well

That his life became a hell’

Oh ‘politics’!

You are above all.

If

Military kills the flesh

And

Guardians kill the soul

You are so blessed

To stab both.
