Key women PTI members join IPP

Author: News Desk

In what can be seen as a major setback for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Andaleeb Abbas, a prominent party member, along with two other female leaders, made a notable switch on Tuesday by joining the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), which is led by the influential figure in the sugar industry, Jahangir Khan Tareen. Abbas is not the first member of PTI to join this emerging political entity. The IPP predominantly comprises former members of the ruling party, many of whom have parted ways with PTI, especially in the wake of the unrest on May 9. This incident prompted several senior PTI leaders to relinquish their basic party memberships and align themselves with the IPP. Abbas, a former Member of the National Assembly (MNA), was accompanied by former members of the provincial assembly, Sadia Sohail and Samira Bukhari, during their visit to meet IPP leader Jahangir Tareen and other party officials in Lahore today. During the meeting, the three leaders conveyed their unwavering confidence in the leadership of Tareen. They also engaged in discussions regarding the future political strategies and party-related matters. Tareen, who was once considered a close confidant of PTI’s chief, Imran Khan, warmly welcomed these new additions to the party.
