In an effort to assess the “operational and technical readiness” of the Army Strategic Forces Command (ASFC), Pakistan “successfully” conducted the training launch of the Ghauri Weapon System on Tuesday, according to a statement from the military’s media wing.
The launch was supervised by the ASFC commander, senior officers from the strategic forces, and scientists and engineers from strategic organisations, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The force’s operational readiness and training standards, which the commander praised, were “reflected by proficient handling of the weapon system in the field and achievement of operational and technical objectives,” he said.
Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to the engineers and scientists for their contributions to the improvement of Pakistan’s strategic capability.
According to the ISPR, the president, prime minister, chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, and heads of the services congratulated the troops, scientists, and engineers after the test on the smooth execution of the training launch.
Pakistan conducted the first test of the 1,300-kilometer-range Ghauri missile in 2018; it is capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads.
Additionally, Pakistan’s successful flight test of the Ababeel Weapon System just a few days ago strengthened its “deterrence” and improved “strategic stability,” and today’s training launch follows suit.
“The test flight was aimed at re-validating various design, technical parameters and performance evaluation of different sub-systems of the weapon system,” the ISPR had said.
