IG Punjab awards cash prizes, certificates to winners of 34th National Games

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has said that sports competitions are of special importance in national character building, hence the excellent performance of police athletes in the 34th National Games is commendable and encouraging. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that a sports cadre will be formed soon to encourage sportsmen in the police force and the best sportsmen will be given jobs in the police force on the pattern of WAPDA, Army, Railways and other institutions. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed the police players to continue hard work and practice for better performance and said that all the players should prepare themselves better for upcoming future competitions, and increase the prestige of the department by winning more medals. He expressed these views while speaking at a function organized in the honour of police athletes at the Central Police Office today.

According to the details, a ceremony was held at the Central Police Office in honour of the police athletes who won medals in the 34th National Games, in which IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar awarded cash prizes and certificates of appreciation to the athletes who won gold, silver and bronze medals. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that in the 34th National Games, players and teams of Punjab Police won 15 medals in various sports, 442 players of Punjab Police participated in national level competition and showed excellent performance while participating in 27 different sports. IG Punjab said that the police football team won the gold medal after defeating the Pakistan Air Force team in the final. Police athletes won 02 silver and 12 bronze medals in national level competitions. IG Punjab distributed cash prizes of 9 lakh 50 thousand rupees to 12 players with the best performance, gold medal winning football team players were awarded 50 thousand each and certificate of appreciation, 07 players were given appreciation certificates and Rs. 01 lakh each for winning the bronze medal in individual category.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that providing the best facilities to the police players is one of the top priorities for which all resources will be utilized. Director General Pakistan Police Sports Board Additional IG Welfare Muhammad Riaz Nazir Gara, Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, DIG Logistics Athar Ismail, AIG Discipline Ahsan Saifullah, AIG Welfare Naveed Ajmal and other officers were also present in the ceremony.

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar visited Services Hospital and inquired about the health and recovery of Punjab Police employee Mesum Raza, who was injured in a traffic accident. IG Punjab inquired about the health and ongoing treatment of Mesum Raza from the doctors and expressed his best wishes for the speedy recovery. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar also provided financial assistance to the family of Mesum Raza. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said the doctors to take best care of Mesum Raza. He said that Punjab Police is like a family and it is our responsibility to take care of every member, and priority measures will remain continue in this regard. DIG IT Ahsan Younas, DIG Operations Lahore Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, CTO Lahore Captain Retired Mustanasir Feroze and other officers were also accompanied by IG Punjab.

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar met with DPO Kasur Tariq Aziz Sindhu and his team at the Central Police Office.DPO Kasur Tariq Aziz Sindhu gave a briefing about the current year performance of the district police under police station diaries. DPO Kasur said that during this year, Kasur police recovered 22 crore worth of stolen property from robberies and criminals and handed it over to the original owners. City Chunnian police station arrested 03 dangerous proclaimed offenders who were absconding for 18 years from Karachi. Kasur Police arrested the culprits in 86 cases of murder including 10 cases of blind murder and sent them to jail. 11 out of 12 incidents of theft with murder were traced, culprits were arrested and sent to the jails, Culprits of 31 cases of crimes related to children were also arrested. DPO Kasur further said that the dangerous criminals involved in the terrorist incident in Sialkot Daska were arrested from Kasur district within 4 hours. Similarly, the culprits of child kidnapping for ransom case were arrested by Sadar Pattoki police station within 03 hours, the child was recovered safely.

IG Punjab praised the Kasur police for successfully tracing robbery, murder and other cases and said that intelligence-based operations against criminal elements should be speeded up.IG Punjab said that the use of modern technology should be continued to protect the life and property of the citizens and prevent crimes and public service delivery should be made easier for the citizens with a more effective strategy.

On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, priority measures are being taken for the health welfare of Ghazi officers and officials, who got injured in the line of duty. According to the details, funds were approved for the medical expenses of the police personnel of various districts including Lahore. Injured DSP Muhammad Umar Farooq was given 03 lakh rupees for treatment. Injured head constables Raza Ali, Altaf Hussain and Constable Abdul Latif were given Rs.02 lakh each. Injured constable Muhammad Adeel Jameel was given Rs.01 lakh 50 thousands for medical expenses. Injured Ghazi Constable Shaukat Hayat was given 01 lakh rupees for treatment expenses. Above said Ghazi officers and officials were seriously injured in the line of duty and encounters with the criminals.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed to continue the measures for the best treatment of Ghazi personnel and said that quick rehabilitation of Ghazi officers and officials is the among top priorities of the department the department will continue its all possible cooperation in this regard. IG Punjab said that the Ghazi officers and officials will be given silver medals, the names will be engraved on the Ghazi wall in the Central Police Office too.
