Woman dies in building collapse incident

LAHORE: A woman died when the roof of a two-storey building collapsed in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Rescue sources said that roof of the dilapidated building located in Sandha area of the provincial capital suddenly came down. The woman was identified as Rubina, 42, wife of Qaiser Nadeem and a resident of Street No 2, Faisal Road, Hakeemawala Bazaar.

According to rescuers, Nadeem along with his four children was visiting his relatives at the time of the incident, while Rubina was alone at home. They said that the roof of the house caved in immediately, but could not say anything about what triggered the collapse. Locals immediately reached the spot and started the rescue operation before informing the rescue teams and the police about the incident. Upon being informed, rescuers reached the spot and pulled her out in an injured condition. She was shifted to Mayo Hospital, which she succumbed to her injuries.
