ABBOTTABAD: A report regarding Food Department was issued for the month of September, 2017 on Friday. The Hazara Food Department recovered fines amounting to Rs 6, 71,200 from traders. While issuing a comprehensive report, Hazara Food Department said that on the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Minister Qalandar Khan Lodhi and Hazara Director of Food Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, the department had pursued a proactive campaign against adulterators and violators of health code. They said that in the month of September, at least 285 shops were raided in Hazara, out of which 66 shopkeepers were found guilty of violations. In Mansehra, 135 shops were raided, of which 38 were found guilty of violations and fines to the tune of Rs 2, 72,200 were imposed. Around 100 shops were raided in Haripur District, of which 74 were found guilty of code violations and fined to the tune of Rs 170,000. In the districts of Kohistan, Battagram and Torghar, 163 shops were inspected, of which 39 were found to be in violation of health code. The report also said that 487 edible items had been sent to laboratories for detailed analysis which would help the department decide the amount of fines to be imposed on those responsible.
