Tribesmen protest against land grabbing

KHYBER AGENCY: The tribesmen of Khuga Khel staged a protest on Sunday against the unlawful possession of their land by National Logistic Cell (NLC) with the assistance of Frontier Corp (FC) in Torkham.

Hundreds of Khuga Khel tribesmen gathered at Bacha Khan Chowk Landi Kotal and protested against the policy of expansion on Khuga Khel tribe’s land without their consent.

Khuga Khel leaders Mirajuddin Shinwari, Zarqeeb Khan, Shah Hussain Shinwari and Mufti Muahmmad Ijaz spoke at the occasion and condemned the NLC for illegal possession of their land. They said that Khuga Khel tribe last year reached an agreement with NLC to give up a 300 canal area to set up terminals but the NLC had now started encroaching on Khuga Khel land, in breach of the agreement.

“We won’t allow NLC to occupy our land and will show our resistance in this regard”, one protester remarked.
