Pakistan celebrates World Post Day

ISLAMABAD: Hand in hand with Universal Postal Union, the Pakistan Post traditionally celebrates the World Post Day every year on October 9, with a new resolve to provide postal services, financial services, customised e-services and logistics to the customers, meeting the demands of the technology-driven competitive environment.

The Pakistan Post celebrated the 143rd anniversary of the founding of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) to further strengthen the mission and goals of the Universal Postal Union. Federal Minister for Postal Services Mulana Syed Amir Zaman hoisted the UPU flag in a simple ceremony organised in the ECO Postal Staff College, Islamabad, on Monday. The message of Universal Postal Union Director General Bishar A Hussein was read out by Rubina Tayyab, chairperson/director general of Pakistan Post on the occasion. Officers and postal staff participated in the ceremony.

In his message, Federal Secretary for Postal Services Dr Saqib Aziz hoped that the implementation of reforms agenda would open new vistas of digital transformation for the Pakistan Post.

While addressing the officers and staff, Mulana Syed Amir Zaman said that the Pakistan Post was totally committed to the goals and aspirations of the Universal Postal Union. He said that the efforts of the Pakistan Post were highly respected at the UPU forum. “Based on its size, population and human resources, Pakistan was ranked in the leading countries of the world.” He also urged the postal workers to work with full dedication and devotion to further improve the postal services across the country in a competitive environment.
