Right to no trust move and opposition benches in NALC demanded

Author: Staff Report

GILGIT: The Northern Areas Legislative Council (NALC) members should be conferred the right to move no confidence motion against the region’s deputy chief executive and establishment of the opposition benches in the council, said PML-N chief organiser and NALC member Hafiz Hafizur Rahman on Sunday.

Mr Rahman said that NALC members could elect deputy chief executive, speaker and deputy speaker, but they were unable to move a no confidence motion against the deputy chief executive as the legal framework order for Northern Areas, 1994 had no provision to this effect.

The NALC member observed that due to this undemocratic style, the house members could not play their role to make the council functional.
