LAHORE: Two brothers were shot dead over an enmity in Chung Police jurisdiction on Sunday.
The Khokhar and Gatha groups have been at each other’s throats for the past 10 years and many people from both sides have fallen prey to violence. Six men of the Gatha group barged into a house and shot dead 25-year-old Mukhtar and 23-year-old Abdul Sattar on Sunday. Both brothers were the bodyguards of Malik Asad and Malik Shahbaz, leaders of the Khokhar group.
However, Mukhtar and Abdul Sattar put up a fight, injuring Mudassar and Imran of the Gatha group and a little girl living in the neighbourhood.
Police took the injured to a hospital. Police said Mudassar and Imran were wanted in several murder cases and had taken the injured in custody.
A case has been registered against the assailants. Mukhtar and Abdul Sattar’s bodies have been taken for autopsy.
Separately, a middle-aged private security guard was suffocated to death in Defence Housing Society on Sunday.
Forty-year-old Hassan was a private security guard and worked at 494-N, DHA. On Sunday, a passer-by told police that a body was laying outside 494-N and a police team got to the scene of crime and took the body for autopsy. A case has been registered.
Also, a middle-aged man shot himself in the head on Sunday in Muslim Town Police jurisdiction. Forty-year-old Muhammad Nawaz was unemployed for many months and was depressed. He shot himself due to his financial condition. His body has been given to his family.
