LAHORE: City District Government Lahore (CDGL) plans to construct the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) tower on Jail Road.
CDGL Nazim Mian Amer Mehmood announced plans to build the tower in a meeting of the city’s elected representatives at Nazim’s House.
The 40-storey tower will be the highest government building in the city. It will have two parking basements, escalators, elevators and a revolving restaurant at the top. The tower will be built in place of the Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) headquarters on Jail Road.
Mehmood also announced the construction of two new petrol pumps operated by LDA. He said that the LDA had had problems in the timely payment of salaries to its employees before the establishment of CDGL. He said that the organisation now generated considerable revenue through commercialisation fees.
He said that another development project has been launched to computerise the LDA’s land record.
The district nazim said that CDGL has also initiated a result-based system of rewards, whereby fee-collectors were given one percent of the commercialsation fee collected.
He said that the employee’s quota in LDA’s housing schemes has been increased to three percent. He said that CDGL has also approved the construction of a school for the employees’ children at Johar Town.
