PESHAWAR: The German Aid for the Afghan Children (GAAC) has provided a specially designed shelter home to the each family in the quake-hit Balakot, said a press statement.
Mohammad Alam Shahab, the GAAC country director for Afghanistan and Pakistan, said the 4 x 4 meter home can accommodate a twelve-member family and has all basic facilities, adding that females and children were provided the shelter homes on a preferential basis. He said that owing to the extreme weather in the Northern Areas, it had become imperative to provide shelter to the homeless people there. He said the project for the provision of shelter homes to the quake victims in Balakot and adjacent areas was initiated under the directives of Dr Reinhard Erose, who has been exploiting his personal resources in Germany to generate funds for the October 8 quake victims.
The GAAC will utilise all its resources for the complete rehabilitation and settlement of the quake victims of the Northern Areas, said the press statement.
