HARIPUR: The construction of Kalabagh Dam will boost the economy of the country, Umar Ayub Khan, the state minister for finance, has said. The minister said the construction of Kalabagh Dam would provide cheap electricity besides irrigating 7,000 acres of land, thus giving a boost to the agriculture sector. He said that the people of the NWFP and Sindh would benefit with the construction of the KBD. Mr Khan said that President Pervez Musharraf had taken the decision to construct big water reservoirs in the larger interest of the country. He said the people of Haripur district had rendered many sacrifices for the country, adding that mega projects such as Tarbela Dam, Ghazi Boratha Project and Khanpur Dam in Haripur were playing an important role in the economy of the country.
