Direct-indirect talks

Author: Daily Times

Sir: In this electronic age of mobile phones, instant phone connections, television conferences etc, there is no need for two people to be in the same town to have an ‘indirect’ meeting. Who are they trying to fool?

Or was it indirect in the sense that president Musharraf was sitting with his hosts in one room and BB was sitting in another room with facilitators from the US and the UK with Rashid Qureshi running in between.
Also, the government notification is an admission that it had no intention of holding free and fair elections and talks with a political party became necessary to that end. Do they take us all for fools?
The harassed president is acting in as confused a manner as he did during the botched up reference, no lessons learnt. Will the result also be the same?
