Hail Ms Bhutto

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Ms Benazir Bhutto has, for once, acted as a statesperson rather than a mere politician. At the head of the largest political party she could have jumped on the MPC bandwagon and led the oust-Musharraf campaign and by doing that played right into the hands of the extremists. But she understood the real nature of the threat and refused to go along. She has instead decided to ensure a smooth transition to democracy which is what all Pakistanis want. She must be supported by all those who want stable democracy rather than an upheaval.
