Shame on onlookers

Author: Daily Times

Sir: All television channels, including the state-owned PTV, showed high-level government functionaries including Federal Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani watching the ill-treatment meted out to the journalists and lawyers from the Election Commission office.

The lawyers or the political activists of various parties had an apparent task to comply with but one is unable to understand as to what the media men and women had done wrong to the rulers that they permitted torture on the journalists. They had no implicit or explicit agenda. They were only performing their professional duties dozens of yards away from the ECP. Shame on the onlookers who had the authority to control the atrocities inflicted on the media persons.
