Liaquat Bagh

Author: Bennett Ramberg

Sir: Liaquat Bagh, formerly known as Company Bagh should be banned as a venue for political rallies and protests. It witnessed the death of the first premier of Pakistan, Liaquat Ali Khan. And history has repeated itself with the assassination of Benazir Bhutto at the same location. Apart from these two high-profile assassinations, the venue is not easy to secure and such incidents are likely to happen again. If parties and groups have to hold events in Rawalpindi, they should look for better, safer venues.
