Utterly shameless

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Many newspapers are carrying reports that suggest that President Pervez Musharraf’s hotel stay in London for three nights without any official engagement cost Rs 6.3 million to the exchequer. I am appalled! What about his slogans of “national interest” and “Pakistan first”? If the people in Pakistan are shy of paying taxes to the government, the reasons are now well understood. If the rulers of this country indulge in this kind of obscene luxury when their subjects find it hard to get two square meals a day, with a large majority living well below the poverty line, I suppose one can safely say that these are the times of the utterly shameless and the downright soulless.
