Trilateral

Author:

Sir: Trilateral talks have been held in Washington DC between the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States. These meetings are taking place in order to review American policy towards the region, especially in light of the challenges facing Pakistani and Coalition troops in combating the Taliban and their Al Qaeda taskmasters. The foreign ministers must ensure a thorough review so that policy is shaped as much as possible in line with the objectives of all stakeholders as well as their sensitivities and concerns. This region is clearly the most important in the world as far as terrorism and security are concerned. So far, there have been many policy and operational blunders by all involved, and it is time that we stop with the name calling and finger pointing and realise that as partners, we need cooperation to move forward.
