Another bout

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Once again, the people of Pakistan are preparing themselves for crippling bouts of load shedding. While most people are well versed in the mechanics of the energy crisis, there is a lot that the power authorities still need to do for the people. They can start by actually sticking to the schedule they announce in the media, so that people can at least try to accomplish as much as they can in their domestic and professional lives. In the previous bouts of load shedding, hardly any schedule was followed. This time, instead of lying through their teeth, power officials should admit whenever there is unscheduled load shedding, and then explain the reasons for it. Further, while we see ads in the papers against power theft, we have yet to hear of any major crackdown against power thieves, whose identities and locations, especially in places like Karachi, is well known.
