Save sports!

Author: Daily Times

Sir: There needs to be a frank discussion in Pakistan on how we have systematically destroyed our sports, especially popular ones like cricket and field hockey. The biggest culprit are the politicians, who have introduced a system of corruption, inefficiency and nepotism in all the sports boards. Because the heads of sports boards are political appointments, which may or may not have any experience of that sport, they act to maximise their personal benefits rather than working for the benefit of the sport. We need to completely revamp our system so episodes like the Younis Khan-Parliament debacle don’t happen again.
