Sir: With the local body system removed from constitutional protection, the Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif can now finally do his merry dance. But what each province of this country needs to understand is that just as the NFC Accord was a step in the right direction for Pakistan, the local body system is necessary for devolution of power and for democracy to flourish at the grassroots level. Hence I kindly request all political parties to back their provincial assemblies to hold local body elections as soon as possible, since an existence of such a system will only help the resolve of the nation to counter any future hardships.
