Lakki blast

Author: Daily Times

Sir: 93 innocent people lost their lives on the first day of the new year. Many people had gathered to watch a volleyball match being played between two local teams. The innocent people who lost their lives had nothing to do with the military or the government, yet they were killed in cold blood to punish their elders for trying to bring peace to this small town near Bannu. What saddens me the most is the apathy of the media towards the blast that claimed so many lives. In stark comparison, whenever there is a blast anywhere in Punjab or for that matter the recent unfortunate attack in Karachi, the media goes ballistic. The media needs to show more maturity with its coverage of such tragic events and also needs to revisit their respective policies on the amount of airtime given to different newsworthy events.
