Incompetence at its peak

Author: Daily Times

Sir: We have been reading about and watching dismal performances of various government ministries and functionaries over the past two years with helplessness. The problem lies with the mindsets of both the president and the prime minister (PM), who do not think there is anything wrong with their set-up. One of the biggest mistakes of the previous regime of President Musharraf and his foreign branded PM was that they did not remove any minister for ‘incompetence or corruption’, although at times they wanted to. The present government is doing more than that by actually safeguarding such people, who were supposed to be public servants. When will the government and leaders look beyond personal gains and think of national stability and progress? What can the fellow countrymen expect from ministers who are not farsighted and are busy in loot and plunder? Will the government ever devise a mechanism to gauge the performance of their ministers and ministries?
