CTD arrests 13 alleged terrorists of banned outfits

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Punjab has foiled a major terror plot by arresting 13 suspected terrorists linked with a banned out during operations in different areas of the province.

According to the spokesman, the CTD Punjab conducted 55 intelligence-based operations in different districts of the province to effectively deal with any untoward incident of terrorism, in which 58 suspected persons were interrogated and 13 alleged terrorists were arrested with weapons, explosives and other prohibited materials.

He said that Jalat Khan, Jannat Khan, Kashf Rasool, Israr Khan, Sahibzada, Nazir, Abdul Salam, Aamir Khan, Asadullah Muawiya, Ameer Khan, Mumtaz Khan, Anwar Khan and Ghulam Rehman are among the arrested terrorists, who belong to the banned organizations, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Daesh, Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistan and Al-Qaeda. The arrest of these alleged terrorists was carried out during intelligence-based operations in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Rawalpindi, Chiniot, Kasur and Multan, he said and added that the explosives 2360 grams, IED bomb 1, detonators 11, protective fuse wire 26 feet, pistol 30 bore 1, bullets 6, flags 4, 71 pamphlets of banned organization, 93 stickers and 46475 rupees cash were recovered from the possession of terrorists.

The spokesman said that the terrorists had planned to sabotage across the province and wanted to target important installations. The police have registered 10 cases against the arrested alleged terrorists in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Bahawalpur and Multan, and shifted them to an unknown location, he added.

He said that 339 combing operations were also conducted during this week with the help of local police and security agencies, 4113 persons were checked, 34 suspects were arrested, 26 FIRs were registered and 10 recoveries were made durting these operations.The Counter Terrorism Department Punjab is diligently pursuing its goal of a safe Punjab and no stone will be left unturned in its efforts to bring terrorists and anti state elements behind bars, he said and concluded that In case of any related information, call the helpline of Counter Terrorism Department Punjab on 0800 11111.
