PBC condemns raids at houses of lawyers

Author: News Desk

Haroon-ur-Rashid, Vice-Chairman and Hassan Raza Pasha, Chairman, Executive Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), have strongly condemned the unwarranted police raids at residences and offices of lawyers, across the country, and registration of FIRs, which are unacceptable, unjustified, unethical and against the law and Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The Pakistan Bar Council cannot turn a blind eye on such like illegal acts of the police against family members of the advocates, they said. They have expressed their great concerns upon raids being conducted on the residences of lawyers and their arrests and said that advocates should not be fixed or attached with any political party as they only perform their professional duties to protect the interest of their respective clients as per law. They demanded that the concerned authorities should forthwith stop raids and cancel FIRs registered against lawyers and also avoid to pressurize them with further demand that law enforcement agencies should not harass the families of lawyers in any manner what so ever, failing which the Council will chalk out its future course of action.
