Doctors’ strike

Author: Dr Syed Mansoor Hussain

Sir: It was good to see our prime minister watching the Pakistan-India semi-final match at Mohali but I wish he could spare some time to visit any of the government hospitals in Punjab and see how poor patients are suffering because of the doctors’ strike.

There are reports that some patients have even died due to the strike. I consider the president of Pakistan and the government of Punjab equally responsible for this negligence. The issue should have been sorted out soon after the strike started. I wonder if a government is not moved by its people dying due to a healthcare crisis resulting from the doctors’ strike, would it ever be moved by anything in this country?
