Sir: I am deeply moved over the loss of precious lives in the Bhoja Air crash in Islamabad. Each and every department and state organ of Pakistan is falling like ninepins. Toeing the line, airlines like Airblue, Bhoja and many others have become examples of that syndrome. Our local airliners use outdated planes and face exclusion by international aviation communities. Human lives are more precious than anything else. Safety standards for planes should never be compromised. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) should take strict notice of the incident. We are still waiting for the investigation report of Airblue that crashed in the Margalla hills. According to the MET office, warnings were issued about the weather but no precaution was taken. Similarly, the next day of the Bhoja Air crash, another local airliner landed safely but with difficulty owing to its tyre bursting during landing. This is not a joke. Human lives are involved and we cannot simply sit back and merely ponder over the issues. Some concrete results are needed. The CAA has to revive itself and weed out corruption from its ranks.
