Karachi police intervene in a protest

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The police used a water cannon and baton-charged workers of the National Commission for Human Development protesting outside the Karachi Press Club on Monday. These workers were protesting for their demands to be met and as they tried to make their way to the red zone, the police used water batons to disperse them. Several protesters were also taken into police custody. The police is for the security of citizens and not for using coercive measures against them. Peaceful protest is the right of every citizen and the government and the police need to remember that.
