Sir: Burning waste instead of disposing it off is an act of violence that could leave not only the environment poisonous but people inhaling the air toxic as well. There is a wrong perception held by the uneducated and literary persons alike that trash burned into ashes once mixed with soil becomes safe. It is the duty of the government to create awareness through mass media among the people toward this act of negligence and utter violation. We talk of climate change and greenhouse gases unleashing torrential rains and floods in Pakistan but do not bother over a small act that could save millions from infectious disease and consequently climatic hazards.
