Sir: With hundreds dead because of bomb blasts and other dreadful terror-based activities, the question that always haunts me is how we can promote peace to alleviate the suffering of humanity. Peace is something that can be brought through education. If children are taught about religious and political tolerance by picking examples from the civilised world and history, we can bring peace to the world. Instead of talking about differences, similarities in religious beliefs and values could be highlighted to bring the world to a common ground. By making our children understand the widening gap between rich and poor and the reasons for it, we can help them become a resource to fill the chasm. Children are the precious gift of God. They should be taught with love and about love for humanity. The reason our society is regressing to the barbaric life where men kill men for mean purposes is the training we are giving to our children on religious bigotry and prejudices.
