Winning hearts

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The US ambassador to Iran has said that the US could strike Iran for refusing to roll back its nuclear programme. Indisputably, the US has the power to attack Iran but the consequences could be disastrous in the event of Iranian retaliation. Like Afghanistan and Iraq, the US might repent venturing into Iran. Until now, Iranian behaviour toward the US has been bold, fearless, and retaliatory. It would fight the US out to its last breath. Why not instead of using force or war, the US, for a change, tries winning hearts through dialogue and association? This approach would clear a lot of bad blood developed over years between the west and the Islamic world.
