Advice to students in Sindh

Author: Hizbullah Khan

Sir: Population wise, Sindh is the second largest province in Pakistan. Every year many students apply to Sindh’s engineering universities. In view of the specific number of seats in engineering universities, most students do not get admission because of a high merit requirement. There is the largest semi-government Information Technology University in Quetta. It has more than 10 departments of engineering, all of which are accredited to the Pakistan Engineering Council and approved by the Higher Education Commission. Besides, the university is ISO 2008 certified. I am from Sindh and it is my final year in the university. I really enjoy my life here, as there is no politics, making me love the university’s atmosphere. I discovered that hardly 30 to 40 students are from Sindh. It offers 10 percent open merit for the other three provinces and a 90 percent quota for the students of Balochistan. A large number of students from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab are enrolled here. There are more than 2,000 students currently enrolled in the university.

The IT University offers many scholarships for needy students like merit scholarship, USAID and work and study programmes. This way I saved my fee for four semesters. Students should click on www.buitms.edu.pk as the university is going to announce its new admissions in August 2012. Students should apply here and get their dreams fulfilled.
