CJP will emerge victorious

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Malik Riaz’s version of the events has been contradictory, shoddy and his body language in the press conference was nervous, in fact on the verge of desperation. The PPP government and military agencies seem to be behind this scandal. They want to supplant the present judiciary with a toothless and meek one, which would uphold extra-constitutional acts. However, the average Pakistani has a firm faith in the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and hopes that he will sail through this crisis. The CJP sets a high moral precedent. He has taken legal action against his son, so people who are blaming him for being a weak father must see that the same father has the courage to throw out his own son. The CJP as a father might be guilty of being oblivious of his son’s allegedly corrupt doings but this does not mean that he should be penalised for his son’s crimes.

The Holy Quran is not meant to be ‘brandished’ in public the way Malik Riaz did. Those who are truthful do not vow on the Quran because they practice what is written in it.

Pakistan as a country and a society is going through a process of moral adolescence, but the forces of the status quo have once again joined hands to thwart this progress.
