Sir: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has put a ban on the transfers/postings of government servants. At this belated stage, when the interim setup has just taken over, such bans appear to be absolutely unjustified because they forestall any move by the interim government to reverse all postings of chosen people in districts and tehsils by the outgoing government. The ECP should have imposed this ban six months earlier because the chosen people have already been planted to carry out their assigned tasks. All this throws doubt on the credibility of fair results. It is therefore urged that the ECP and the interim government both review all the transfers that have been in effect during the last six months so that the process of fair elections can be ensured.
