ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sherry Rehman said that Pakistan was ill-prepared to contest Kulbhushan Jadhav case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
In an exclusive talk with media, she said that Pakistan did not utilize the option available to it under Article 31 of Statute which allows a party to nominate an individual as a judge.
“You mishandled the case. First you failed to file your response till May 15 and then you decide to challenge the jurisdiction of the ICJ” she said. She said that lawyer Pakistan chose to contest the case lacked international experience.
In a major diplomatic embarrassment for Pakistan, the ICJ on Thursday stayed the execution of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav till a final decision is taken.
ICJ Judge Ronny Abraham, President of the ICJ reading out the court verdict also asked Pakistan to inform it of all the measures it has taken to implement the order.
India had sought the court’s intervention for an immediate suspension of Jadhav’s death sentence.
