Sir: The July 24 attack on ISI offices in Sukkur indicates frustration on the part of the terrorists. It also speaks of our premier intelligence agency’s performance and progress. This agency is meant to pose a threat to terrorists. This attack reveals how vulnerable it becomes when it gets exposed to dangers. It also means that ‘intelligence’ networks on the terrorists’ side are more active than our own apparatus. Sukkur jail is used to home dreaded prisoners and the moving of terrorists to Sukkur must have been kept top secret, therefore it is unfortunate that the attackers were able to break into sensitive information. Such a movement of terrorists or criminals cannot be made without the help of local police and particularly the jail staff that is prone to bribes and intimidation. It seems that terrorists wanted to invade the ISI office after the blasts but they failed to do so. This whole incident is really unfortunate and a thorough probe needs to be made into it.
