MIRPURKHAS: 50th death anniversary of Elsa Qazi was observed here on Thursday. On this occasion Mirpurkhas based writers and intellectuals paid glowing tributes to the German lady, Elsa Kazi for her scholarly work and propagation of peace and human harmony.
According to a press release, at a gathering titled “A tribute to tremendous German essence”, organized by the Mirpurkhas Intellectual Forum (MIF), Mirpurkhas on Thursday, noted jurist and author Mahir Ajmeri read out her a research paper on Kazi saying she was born in a small village in Germany. It was in London that she first met her husband, scholar and philosopher Imdad Imam Kazi, and matured a lifelong association. The couple got married in Germany in 1910. In order to pay continued tribute to her, an old campus of the University of Sindh in Hyderabad was named after her. She translated the Shah Jo Risalo to English. She is generally knew as “Mother EIsa”, especially in the Sindh province of Pakistan.
