Sir: The recent episode in Rawalpindi has opened a new front for the government in the form of sectarian clashes. Though this kind of violence has increased in recent times but, to some extent, there still was harmony among the public. Initially, when this news of clashes between two groups was broadcast, differentiation of groups was not told by the media, which shows to some extent a sensible role played by the media. This incident clearly elaborates the patience level of our society where people are so disheartened that they can cross any limit on the direction of some aggravators. An incident occurred and created chaos. As a counter-measure the government imposed curfew and the army was called in to control the situation.

Now comes the role of religious leaders, which is questionable. People are used in the name of religion and it is easy to convince and mould them by using this tactic. Alas! Our leaders are not trying to find long-term solutions, which can help. People were expecting that the recent press conference by the interior minister would address this issue but his main focus was the trial of the former president under Article 6. I do not know why our leaders are not bothered about all these issues and their solutions.
