Winter load shedding

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Karachi is the biggest city in Pakistan but its citizens feel deprived of basic facilities required to live a good life, citing a number of reasons, chief among them being the haphazard electricity supply. Even in winter, the people here are facing power failure of almost three to four hours a day. The worst sufferer of this load shedding is the student community. Being a university student, I face hurdles in the making of assignments and reports; it is getting very difficult to prepare for our examinations without any electricity.

The business sector is also enduring a great loss. The load shedding is also affecting the acute supply of water. Moreover, the frequent breakdown of electricity poses a threat to the lives of patients suffering from severe ailments. Karachi, which was once called the city of lights, has now been drowned in darkness. I appeal to all concerned authorities to look into this matter seriously and help us get rid of this constant torture.
