ISLAMABAD: The Special Court hearing high treason case against former president Pervez Musharraf on Friday expressed dissatisfaction over interior ministry’s report regarding his properties and termed it as ‘incomplete’.
“We direct the Interior Ministry to furnish the requisite information regarding the properties mentioned in the report before the next date of hearing,” the court ruled. “In case, the DHAs of Lahore and Karachi fail to submit the requisite information to the ministry, we direct the director generals/administrators of DHAs Lahore and Karachi to appear in person along with the record of properties mentioned in the report,” the court ruled.
According to the report, the confirmation reports of house in Army Housing Scheme and three plots in Karachi and Lahore are still awaited while a plot in DHA Islamabad and farm house in Chak Shahzad have been confirmed by DHA and ICT chief commissioner respectively. The report mentioned that plot in Sangar Housing Scheme Gawadar has not been confirmed so far.
Similarly, confirmation reports are awaited from Foreign Affairs Ministry regarding two properties of Musharraf each in UAE and London. However, the report stated that the moveable property comprising two land cruisers and a Toyota Corolla car have been confirmed.
During the course of hearing, Interior Ministry’s Joint Director Dr Naila Zafar appeared before a three-judge special court presided by Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Yahya Afridi.
When confronted with the incomplete report, she apprised the bench that despite repeated requests by the ministry, the DHAs of Lahore and Karachi have not provided the requisite information of properties mentioned in report.
Earlier, Musharraf through his counsel had moved an application stating that he was ready to appear before the court subject to provision of fool-proof security and protocol.
However, the hearing was adjourned until July 18.
