Sir: I live in Karachi where, like in many other cities of our country, the Shia Muslims mourn the death of Imam Hussain and hold processions to observe their rituals. On the one hand, it is their right to express their religious fervour with which I have no issues. On the other hand, the authorities concerned block the roads near the procession routes making it almost impossible for people to commute to their work places, educational institutes, etc. It is not that they do not make alternate routes but they always lack planning in this regard. The policy makers should ensure that during these processions, alternate routes are not blocked and allow easy flow of traffic so that those not observing the Moharram rituals can find it easy to travel.
