Sir: The constant bickering by certain media anchors about General (retd) Pervez Musharraf continues to surprise the common man. The same common man who is now compelled to believe that perhaps Musharraf’s era was better off financially and otherwise than what we have had over the last six years in the name of ‘democracy’. Accusing Musharraf as the culprit without allowing justice to take its course smacks of mala fide intentions. There is no doubt that Musharraf was wrong but at least he was not corrupt. The biggest mistake made by the people of this country perhaps has been to allow leaders like Zardari and Sharif to come back and regain power.
At this crucial time the media should shun playing a negative role and initiate some substantial discourse. Playing to the gallery to appease a few individuals or agencies would only make things messy and bring a bad name to the media.
