A humble request

Sir: The Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC) had announced vacancies for lecturers (BS-17) in the Education Department. According to the recruitment policy of 1991, the vacancies in each and every department of the province should be allocated on the basis of the zonal merit system: Kalat zone, Zhob zone, Mukran zone, Quetta Division, Sibi zone and Quetta city division zone, while a specific number of vacancies are reserved for the physically challenged and religious minorities. This time, the concerned authorities had neglected the Pashtun districts including Zhob, Sherani, Musakhel, Loralai, Harnai, Duki and Ziarat, along with the physically challenged and the religious minorities. Only 93 out of 674 vacancies had been allocated to the Pashtun areas, with no opportunity for the physically challenged and the religious minorities. The BPSC has also eliminated open merit, zonal merit and zonal allocation of seats. This is totally against the BPSCs’ recruitment policy of 1991. There is deep disappointment among the educated youth of the mentioned districts. The physically challenged youth and those from the religious minorities are equally upset on this unjust and unfair distribution and allocation of vacancies. There are a fairly large number degree holders in these districts. I request the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, to restore the zonal allocation system. And last but not least, I request the government to provide job opportunities to the youth of Balochistan so that the province prospers and develops under the new leadership.

Hazrat Wali Kakar
