ICC and social media

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The governing body of cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC), has a Facebook page managed by its officials. The page carries more than 4.5 million likes. It shares different news related to cricket. The unfortunate part of the page is that in most of the posts from Pakistan and India, the arguments are laced with abuse and verbal punches.

People from both countries use filthy language against each other and pass indecent comments about each other’s cricketers. It is my request to the ICC to take notice of the situation and whosoever manages the page should first give warning to the users and if they refuse to comply with the discipline, their name should be spammed.

I also appeal to the Pakistanis and Indians to base their arguments on mature reasoning, i.e. facts and evidence. Insulting others does not fall in the definition of criticism.
