Sir: The way the Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman is removed from his post once again, this time through a direct notification by the prime minister, who also is the patron-in-chief of the board, shows that the country is far removed from what is called a real democracy. It looks insane as well when one sees it from the point of view of the new chairman. He being a seasoned journalist, who does not tire of speaking against the autocratic system and for promoting democratic values in Pakistan, should not have tolerated the weakening of institutions only because it suits him. It reeks. The PML-N government is proving the claim against its ruling style that it operates as a gang, and extracts a price for its presence by diminishing democratic principles.
